Amazon is promoting its Amazon One[4] in-store biometric access and payments system by offering customers US$10 credit when they register their palm to gain access to and make payments in stores equipped with the company’s contactless palm scanning technology.
The retail giant launched Amazon One in Seattle[5] in September 2020, and has now rolled it out to more than 50 Amazon Books, Amazon Go, Amazon 4-Star and Whole Foods Market stores across 15 states as well as in the capital, Washington DC.
According to an advert promoting Amazon One seen by Techcrunch[6], customers who sign up for the service in-store will receive a US$10 promotional credit via email that they can use “on any products sold by Amazon.com”.
The advert does not specify how long the credit offer will be made available to customers registering for Amazon One.
